Mark has a design background which includes technical and perspective drawing. Since taking up watercolour painting in 2013, he has used both these skills to portray architectural scenes. He enjoys the rich history we have in Newark and likes to include all the detail within a scene including the cars, signs and people, as he feels it adds to the painting.
In short, while the author has been with the Newark Art Club he has observed how Mark has varied his style from pen and ink line detail work to more loose impression work, allowing colour to take on a more impacting role.
Mark says about Newark Art Club, ” I enjoy coming to the Club and meeting fellow artists, who certainly give me new ideas and artistic advice. Within the Club, we have such a range of individuals who enjoy various aspects of art. We have access to demonstrations, workshops and outdoor sketching and hold exhibitions and social events throughout the year”.
