Artists Statement

Spent 13 years in an engineering drawing office and eventually ended my working career in IT trying to communicate technical IT architecture and complex business business processes. Thus fully equipped to portray straight lines and boxes I discovered  at Newark Art Club a huge gap in my skills, namely Tone and Quality of line.
Chinese ink painting and Japanese Sumi-e are for me the art forms that use these to utmost, with a few strokes of the brush the essence of the thing being painted can be captured. I am now trying to catch up with the Chinese masters but I’m a few thousands of years behind in experience. Still I am enjoying the challenge.
