After a long career in banking, Peter in retirement, continues to maintain his lifelong hobby of pen and ink sketching and water colour painting.

When he paints, he uses broad and sharp brush application of colour, rather than line, to define the preliminary layout of the scene he is working on. In fact he does not do a preliminary layout. He simply creates the final layout. Consequently, he is exceedingly fast in completing his work.

Most amateur artists when they travel, be it on holiday or in work, are never without their sketching materials so that they may capture scenes they encounter.

The author has been privileged to see that Peter did not just create sketches. Much of his work, still in their original ring bound pads, are immaculately preserved personal travel diary images, some with written notes of interest current at the time but now of historical significance.
